What are Commodities Futures?

Crude oil is an actively traded commodity that belongs to the group of the Hydrocarbons. The crude oil futures represent a contract between buyers and seller who consent to deliver a specific amount of physical crude oil at a pre-agreed date in the future. The oil future contracts cover 1,000 barrels and can be settled for up to 10 years ahead.
